Albert M. Fisher   April 7, 1930  ~  May 10, 2013

Albert M. Fisher passed away from complications following surgery, on May 10, 2013 in Crawford, NE.

Albert was born at home on April 7, 1930 to Arthur and Edna Fisher in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids.  After serving two years in the Army, Albert graduated with a teaching degree from Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa.  While teaching high school Vocational Building Trades in LeMars, Albert met JoAnne Johnson. The two were married in Sioux City, Iowa on June 14, 1958.  He then took a teaching position with Westmar College.

Through the 1960’s, Albert operated a successful construction business, designing and building houses in Northwest Iowa.  In 1966, Albert and JoAnne moved their family to a 160 acre farm. They raised four children; two daughters and two sons, there for 19 years. In addition to farming, Albert taught for 10 years in Sioux City.  In 1985, the family moved to Northwest Nebraska, fulfilling a lifelong dream of Albert’s to live farther west.

Albert was a very unique personality because of his passion for artistic creation combined with a very practical and analytical side.  He loved to paint, throw pottery, and design jewelry.  His building talents also included furniture, wall hangings, and finish work.  True to his name, Mr. Fisher loved to fish, hunt, and camp; and he passed on a love of the outdoors to the future generations of his family.  Albert’s most important pursuit in life was being a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Geraldine, and a brother James.  Survivors include wife, JoAnne of Crawford; daughters, Kari (Ron) Watt of Phoenix, AZ, and Kristen (Tony) Badura of Torrington, WY; sons, Kurt (Jill) Fisher of Rapid City, SD, Keil (Lisa) Fisher of Belle Fourche, SD. Also surviving are grandchildren, Chase Brunick; Mitchell and Alexa Watt; Tai, Kara, Anya, and Leisel Badura; and Adrik, Jantzen, Keison, and Aubrynne Fisher; and one great-grandson, Cairo Muhammad. He is also survived by three brothers, William, Edgar, and Bernard.

A celebration of Albert’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 15 at Whitney Methodist Church with Reverend George Kilmer officiating. The burial will be at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
