CSC Eagles Go Into Day Two After Sixth-Best Team Round All-Time

With only four players, Chadron State College golf fired the program’s best team round since 2016, and tied its sixth-best round all time, finishing round one at Walking Stick Golf Club in Pueblo, in eighth out of 14 teams with a score of 328.

Previously only three rounds in the 2015-16 season, and two others at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Denver, in 2005 and 2006, were better than the Eagles carded on Sunday. Another at Fox Hollow in 2012 tied the 328 strokes.

“All the girls played well,” said CSC Head Golf Coach John Ritzen. “It’s exciting to see all their hard work pay off. We were able to stay out of trouble and avoid those big scores that have haunted us in previous rounds. Overall, we are improving in all aspects of our game.”

Three of four golfers posted collegiate-best individual rounds. Sam Rahmig finished Sunday ranked tied in 13th individually in the tourney, with a 76. Adrianna Weeldreyer was tied for 29th, with a score of 80. Tori Meschke, tied for 50th, shot an 85.

Logan Kasten tied for 57th by posting an 87, which was only one stroke more than her previous best.

Play resumes at 9 a.m. on Monday.
