The Alliance City Council met Tuesday night at 7pm and introduced a new Alliance police officer Marco Vera Chavez. Chavez is a nationalized citizen from Mexico and bilingual.
Council also discussed an ordinance to an amendment to a classification plan for removing the position of Executive Administrative Assistant/Public Information Officer. They will be adding an additional Administrative Secretary within the Administration division. This modification is being made to meet the current needs of the City and to accurately reflect the responsibilities and duties of the position.
There was also a public hearing for the vacation of city right of way request by Eldred Foundation Inc. The request is for the vacation of the undeveloped alley right of way located between lots 2 and 3, Block 2, Decker Addition. The Eldred Foundation is requesting the vacation of the undeveloped alley right of way in order to expand the lot size for potential sale and development. Another public hearing was for Next Generation Properties of Nebraska LLC for Annexation. They are requesting annexation of the Bomgaars Addition to the City of Alliance. This property is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of West 3rd Street, Country Club Road, and U.S. Highway 385.
A resolution approved the preliminary plate request of Alliance Lodging LLC, which will subdivide the property located north of Holsten Drive, west of U.S. Highway 385 and south of Terry’s Corner. This platting change will allow additional development on the lot in addition to the proposed hotel.
Tammy Swearingen was also at the meeting and provided some listings of potential fundraising ventures for the renovation of the Central Park Sunken Gardens.
