The Nebraska State Patrol and the Panhandle Prevention Coalition (PPC) are once again teaming up to keep Panhandle roads safe.  The Panhandle Prevention Coalition has awarded the Nebraska State Patrol a grant of $7700 so troopers can work extra hours patrolling the roads during community celebrations and to conduct sobriety checkpoints throughout the Panhandle.  This is the 6th year of this partnership.

The first of the grant funded sobriety checkpoints took place on Friday November 18th and Saturday November 19th in Scotts Bluff County.  During these checks (3) impaired drivers were arrested, (4) drivers were observed to be driving on suspended licenses, (8) drug violations were cited, (2) MIP’s were cited, as were (2) open containers.

The extra hours can be used in all Panhandle Counties and runs through June 30, 2017.
