POSSIBLE OSCAR NOMINEES: BILL MURRAY, LAURA LINNEY, JACK BLACK (?!)

LOS ANGELES & TORONTO (AP) – Shirley MacLaine thinks her co-star Jack Black should get an Oscar nomination for toning down his wild man act in the movie “Bernie.” MacLaine says she thought Black would be chewing up the scenery. But she says “he can really act.” MacLaine says it was fun going to work every day with this “mini genius.”

Bill Murray has been nominated for an Oscar once before for “Lost in Translation,” so he’s not getting caught up in the buzz surrounding his role as FDR in “Hyde Park on Hudson.” Murray jokes that he’s just in it for the perks, anyway. He says “you get to go to dinners and tell little stories.” Then, he says, “you get to get dressed up in a tux a couple of times and you can be on TV.” But in the end, he says “you can either win or lose.”  Laura Linney is a three-time Oscar nominee and will probably pick up her fourth tomorrow for her role in “Hyde Park on Hudson.” She says “it’s always a nice thing to happen.” But she says the challenge is “keeping it all in perspective.” Linney says she’s satisfied with being in a movie she’s proud of.

We’ll all find out who’s in the running for an Oscar when the Academy Award nominees are announced tomorrow morning.
