Dale was a charter member of the Eagles Club in Crawford, and a member of the Highway 20 Tractor club where he enjoyed driving his restored tractors on the tractor cades. He enjoyed driving, didn’t matter what it was, truck, cars, farm equipment, if it had a motor and wheels he’d drive it. He had a hay truck and hauled bails and stacks all over the region for several years. He also shuttled cars for Tommy’s Car Lot in Chadron, which is where his love of trading cars must has come from, if he drove it and liked it he’d trade it. (Which he did up to the month before his death.) He also delivered prescriptions for Peterson Drug to Alliance, Scottsbluff and Crawford. He continued working for Henkens for several years. Dale also sold carports for a short time before he decided to slow down and actually retire.
A few years before Naomi’s passing they moved to Chadron to be closer to her Doctor’s.
Naomi passed away 1999.
Naomi’s care taker Doris Bartlet helped keep him going for fourteen years after. As his health started to fail he moved back to Crawford so he was closer to Mike. He bought a little house and proceeded to make it home. Dale enjoyed life, his family, and lots of close friends. He especially enjoyed his most faithful companion Koko his beloved Schnauzer. You didn’t see one without the other.
Dale loved giving everyone a hard time and getting back as much as he gave. He was be greatly missed by many.
