Chadron State introduced the new leader of its men’s basketball program on Thursday morning at a media conference in the athletic offices at the Chicoine Center. Houston Reed comes to CSC from Otero Junior College in Colorado where he’s spent the past 10 seasons building a strong program in the very competitive Region IX landscape. Coach Reed stopped in the KQSK studios Thursday for a visit with Sports Director and Voice of the Eagles Dave Collins to talk more about his excitement in leading the Eagles program that lies ahead.
In the first segment, Coach Reed comments on why he sought out the head coaching job at Chadron State, meeting with his new team, competing in the rigorous RMAC and how he wants to build a culture and a brand within Chadron State basketball.
As Coach Reed noted, he played under the legendary Don Meyer at Northern State University after starting his career at Otero JC. He talks about other influences to his coaching approach, and the goals he has for CSC basketball.
Coach Reed will officially begin his duties on May 18. He’ll be joined in Chadron by his wife Leah of nearly 15 years, and their two children, 12-year-old Olivia, and 10-year-old Johnathan.
