2 Nebraska Officers Credited for Saving Baby’s Life

LA VISTA, Neb. (AP) – Two La Vista police officers are receiving praise for saving a 5-week-old girl’s life.

New mother Carla Hunter noticed her child was having problems just before the New Year. Hunter says her daughter, Faith, was throwing up and having trouble breathing.

Hunter called authorities, and a dispatcher helped her perform CPR. Hunter says blood began coming out of her daughter’s mouth and nose.

La Vista police officers TJ Jacik and Steve Walter arrived at the home and helped revive the infant.

Doctors told Hunter that her daughter went into cardiac arrest, but she was released from the hospital on Friday and is faring well.

Hunter says she will always be grateful for the officers’ actions.
