Eagle Defensive End Aaron Making Impact Despite Injury Setback

Chadron State fall football camp presses on with two-a-days getting started this week and there’s another significant player who’s been forced to help out on the sidelines rather than being in on the action.  Much like linebacker Courtland Joshua, senior defensive end Olufemi Aaron is dealing with a knee injury suffered in the spring and he’s been relegated to a teaching role and light work in fall camp.

Coach Jay Long told us the hope is that Aaron can play this fall but Aaron is preparing for the possibility that he may have to have knee surgery and could miss his senior season.

Aaron redshirted his first year at Chadron State in 2011 and started 10 games a season ago making 28 tackles.  He’s been doing slow walks on Chainsaw Hill and keeping focused on drills at fall camp, while also encouraging his teammates.

In a defensive line drill with the blocking sled on Saturday Aaron was right up to the side of the group as they worked to push and power through the device.  He says the Eagle defensive line and front seven should be tough.

As for facing all those gun-slinging quarterbacks and yardage-machine offenses in the RMAC, Aaron noted a few spots the defense can improve to have a strong year.

Whether or not Aaron is able to be on the field this fall his presence will definitely be felt and he’s got plans to utilize his experience and leadership to help CSC’s defense strive to be among the best in the RMAC.
