Larson: Inside Linebackers Looking Sharp at CSC Camp

Chadron State begins its first full week of fall football camp today (Monday) with a 9:00 practice in full pads for the first time.

Saturday morning was a half-rack session with helmets and shoulder pads on a hot day with temperatures in the 90’s but with a consistent breeze sweeping the practice fields as units continued working on drills and setting a foundation for the rigors of camp that are to come.

Defensive Coordinator Jeff Larson looks tells us what he looks for from his unit in the first days of camp and says the veterans returning are doing well.

With the fast-paced offenses spread across the RMAC and looking to stay fresh on their feet and avoid injuries Larson’s defense focuses on playing from the waist up, especially now the the pads are going on.

The inside core of the defense has looked good early, led by a pair of seniors Dylan Furrier and Clay Cundall.

Incoming linebacker Marcus Jacobs made some plays that stood out on Saturday.  Linebacker Hank Strauss continues his recovery from illness and is attending practices and watching from the sidelines, doing some light running and working on core strength.
