Pass rushers will have their hands full this fall when facing the Chadron State offensive front, despite the loss of two tremendous linemen in Sam Parker and Mike Lorenzo.
Senior right tackle Daniel Sotelo spent the summer watching and learning from the performance of past Eagle talents, like Tampa Bay Buccaneer Garrett Gilkey, and improving the physical aspects of his game.
Veterans Palmer White and Darrien Oliver will join Sotelo up front to anchor the line of scrimmage. The trio were consistent starters last fall. Sotelo though will be looked upon the most by opponents perhaps as he was named preseason All-RMAC.
When you ask Sotelo about paving ground up front for the Chadron State offense and guys like Derek Jackson and Cody Paul, he gets a big smile on his face because there’s potential for a big play at anytime.
Sotelo, White and Oliver were among a large group of lineman that went through opening drills Thursday morning under the direction of Head Coach and standout lineman in his playing days, Jay Long. Long emphasized intensity as a main theme on the first day and Sotelo was already showing his leadership by encouraging some of the younger guys during a water break after a set of drills.
