Delia M. Bartels, 100, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Highland Park Care Center.
She was born on November 1, 2015 on a ranch east of Alliance in Sheridan County to William and Anna (Seidler) Bauer. Delia married William H. “Bill” Bartels on November 4, 1930. They moved to their home at 508 Grand Avenue in 1932 where she resided until she moved to Highland Park Care Center in 2011.
Delia enjoyed crafts and was a perfectionist with her crocheting, sewing and beading project and also loved to play cribbage. Besides being a homemaker Delia was the owner/operator of Mode O’Day Store on Box Butte Avenue from 1955-1965.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjie Whitlock of Mesa, AZ, her grandchildren, Tim and Kim Wills of Hemingford, Ross and Johana Wills, Mike and Kim Wills and Janet and Chris Toedtli of Alliance, Bill Wills of Gering and Julie and Galen Nordin of Lancaster, MN. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Most of her family was in Alliance for her 100th birthday celebration.
In addition to her parents, Delia was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1984, her daughter, Betty Wills in 2014, her grandson, Doug Whitlock in 1990, and her sons-in-law, Bud Wills and Gary Whitlock.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church with Reverend Martin T. Schnare and Reverend Richard C. Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
