3 EAGLES EARN PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a strong showing at the opening indoor track and field meet of the season, three Chadron State College track and field student-athletes have been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.

Alyssa Norton is the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Charith Kapukotuwa and Alex Graham sweep the men’s track and field honors.

Norton, a junior from Rushville, recorded a career-best throw in the shot put with a heave of 46-feet, 5-inches and finished second in the 20-pound weight throw.

Graham, a junior from St. Leonardo, Jamaica, won the 60-meter dash in 6.75 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second shy of the school record he set last winter.

Finally, Kapukotuwa, a junior from Chilaw, Sri Lanka, won the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 59-4 ¼.

All three CSC student-athletes provisionally qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships with their winning marks.
