Strong Season Emerges For Chadron Juniors With Quality Pitching, Getting on Base Any Way Possible

Seventeen wins, a 12-game winning streak, and a number-one seed in the Juniors Area B7 Legion Baseball District Tournament.  That’s what Chadron has accomplished under Head Coach Jonn McClain this summer and the boys are preparing for the opening district game coming up Friday afternoon.  Coach McClain’s team has enjoyed a pleasant year, one that has grown out of several new players and despite an early four game losing streak.

Quality pitching will make or break a Legion Baseball season and Coach McClain has seen a group of hurlers develop into a trusted staff that he’s counting on to advance deep into districts.

In the Senior game Tuesday night Jake Bargen launched an impressive homer, but those are rare in Legion play.  Especially at the junior level, finding a win is usually through wearing out the basepaths anyway possible.  The Junior Nats have scored 10 or more runs 10 times and Jonn along with his brother, senior Coach Jake McClain, emphasize getting on base any way possible to create offense.

Chadron will look to stampede new trails between the bases at Oregon Trail Park in Gering when it opens the district tournament at 1:00 Friday against Hershland.
