Chadron Nationals SRs 15, Alliance Spartans 7
A nine-run third inning, powered by Jake Bargen’s solo home run to left propelled the Chadron Nationals over Alliance 15-7 Tuesday night in American Legion Baseball SRs action. Bargen led off the inning with a deep homer, his third RBI of the game and ended the night 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs. Jackson Dickerson scored three times, Jayden Stack had two singles and two RBIs and Marc Fernandez pitched three perfect innings before being lifted to start the fourth with a 12-0 lead. Chadron’s record improves to 15-12 while Alliance drops to 12-20-1.
Chappell Buckley Bombers 2, Gering SRs 1
Esai Hernandez gave up just four hits on the mound in the opener but took the tough-luck loss 2-1. Bo Soukup’s second inning two-run double held up for the Bombers. Gering tried to rally from a 2-0 defecit in the sixth with the first two batters reaching base followed by a sac fly from Hernandez to make it 2-1, but a pair of fly outs followed ended the threat.
Gering SRs 11, Chappell Buckley Bombers 3
In game two Trace Fulk pitched six complete innings for the victory and Gering scored six times to break open a close game in the sixth inning, winning by the eight-run mercy rule. Key plays in the sixth came from Brent Barge with an RBI single and Esai Hernandez doubled in a run. Two other runs came in on throws. Gering sits just above the .500 mark at 20-19 on the season.
Rapid City Post 22 Hardhats 13, Twin Cities Scottsbluff Zephyrs 7
After taking an early lead Twin Cities and Rapid City went back-and-forth before Rapid pulled out the six-run win. Jackson Hinze had the big hit early with a two-run triple in the second to give TC a 4-0 lead before a pair of bases loaded walks brought Rapid City within 4-2 in the bottom half of the frame. Rapid scored six times in the third for an 8-4 lead but saw the Z’s rally to within 8-7 as Traceton Halley tripled in a pair. Rapid countered with five more runs in the fourth and held the Z’s scoreless the rest of the way.
Rapid City Post 22 Hardhats 5, Twin Cities Scottsbluff Zephyrs 2
John Zastro threw five innings of two-hit ball and gave way to Matt Vickers who held the Z’s to one hit over the final two innings in Rapid City’s win. Zach Solano smacked a two-run homer for the early Rapid lead in the first inning, which was cut in half to 2-1 on an RBI groundout from Brad Divan in the second. Leading 3-1 in the fifth, the Hardhats added a pair of runs for a 5-1 lead on an error and sac fly, and only gave up a bases loaded walk in the sixth the rest of the way keeping Twin Cities at bay in the 5-2 Z’s loss.
