If you stepped outside today and smelled smoke, know that we do not have any large fires burning in our area. The cold front that went through yesterday carried smoke into our area from numerous wildfires to our north and northwest. It’s tough to say where exactly the smoke originated due to the cloud cover overhead, but there are large fires burning in Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Canada, and smoke from these fires is getting caught in the wind patterns and moved into our area this morning. Those that are sensitive to smoke may want to consider staying inside and keeping the windows closed. The smoke may stick around through the afternoon.
