Northern Panhandle Hit by Sunday Storms

The three day fourth of July weekend ended with a bang as thunderstorms, hail, and heavy rain hit the Northern Panhandle. According to public reports hail was estimated around one inch in diameter with 60 MPH wind gusts powering over trees and limbs between 5:20pm and 5:40pm, 8 miles southwest of the city of Gordon. The Sheridan Fire Department and Rescue crews reported around 5:48pm seeing a wall cloud with golf ball size hail that broke the windshield of a vehicle 12 miles south Gordon. Minutes later, wind gusts were up to 90 MPH. At 6:17pm Storm Chasers reported a tornado touching down 30 miles southeast of Gordon.
