Chadron State College had five softball student-athletes named to the All-Nebraska Division II Team by the Omaha World-Herald. Two more student-athletes earned honorable mention.
The five first team selections are Zoe Humphries at catcher, Courtney Lecher at shortstop, Jessica Eatmon at outfield, Casey Polk at designated hitter and Katelyn Kruger as the utility player. Aspen Eubanks and Tayler Hall both earned honorable mention.
Humphries, a sophomore from Arvada, Colo., had a .305 batting average and was second on the team with 12 home runs.
Lecher, a sophomore from Fort Collins, Colo., started every game for the Eagles at shortstop and led the team with 39 runs scored and 170 at bats. Her .341 hitting percentage was second on the team and she had a team-high 58 hits.
Eatmon, a senior from Broomfield, Colo., finished her final season with a .310 batting average. She became the first player in CSC history to be named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association D-II Player of the Week. In the final six games, she had a .667 batting average, amassing 12 hits and 10 runs, including six home runs and 10 RBIs. She was also named the RMAC Player of the Week. She tied for second on the team with 31 RBIs this season.
Polk, a senior from Golden, Colo., had a career-high .314 batting average. She was second on the team with 44 hits and tied Eatmon with 31 RBIs.
Kruger, a junior from Highlands Ranch, Colo., led the Eagles in seven hitting categories, including batting average (.374), home runs (13), RBIs (41), total bases (90), slugging percentage (.783), walks (22) and only was struck out 12 times. Kruger was named to the RMAC All-Conference second team and led the conference in slugging percentage, while finishing second in home runs. Her .783 slugging percentage is a CSC single season record.
