Driver Logan Weiss, age 15 of rural Mitchell, and passenger Isaiah Moon, age 14 of Scottsbluff were injured on the afternoon of Sunday, June 14, 2015 in a 4-wheel ATV accident.

At 3:51 p.m. emergency personnel responded to the Tri-State canal near Highway 26 approximately one mile east of Mitchell NE. The boys were checking on some cattle in the area, and stated that while they were westbound on the Tri-State canal road, the throttle on the 4-wheeler stuck, causing them to go off the roadway and into the ditch. At the point where they entered the ditch, there is a significant drop. There was no water in the ditch. Both males were transported and admitted to Regional West Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Neither of the boys was wearing a helmet. No drugs or alcohol is suspected.

Mitchell Police and Fire Departments, Valley Ambulance, and Sheriff’s Deputies responded to this incident.
