The West bested the East in both Volleyball and Football Saturday in the annual West Nebraska All-Star games in Scottsbluff.
The Volleyball Match went to the West by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 9-15. Former Alliance Bulldog Kennedy Cyza was named the MVP for the West as she lead the way with 13 kills, 3 service points and 4 digs. Emily Jensen of Alliance had 38 set assists, 11 service points and 16 digs and was named the Sportsmanship Award winner. Former Bulldog Precious Williams added 7 kills and 4 service points. Alliance Coach Angie Hiemstra was an Assistant Coach for the West Squad.
The West team was a winner in the Football game by a 25-7 final score. Scottsbluff’s Jackson Hinze was the MVP as he threw for 2 touchdowns, ran for another and kicked 2 field goals in the victory. His second touchdown pass, that put the game away, was a 22 yard strike to Chadron’s Vonsinh Sayaloune. Hemingford’s Ethan Skinner rushed for 43 yards and Bobcat Matthew Wood had an interception late in the game to help seal the win. Colt Foster and Brady Turek of Hemingford were also members of the West Squad along with Assistant Coach Randy Hiemstra. Other Chadron players on the West team included Jackson Dickerson and Keenan Johnson.
