APS Board of Education Meeting Recap–Audio Interview

The Alliance Public Schools Board of Education held their regular meeting Monday, May 4.  Superintendent Dr. Troy Unzicker said there were several resignations including High School Social Studies Teacher and Head Cross Country Coach Tom Swanson and 2nd grade Teacher Michelle Martinez. Dr Unzicker says there are still 2 Elementary teaching openings to be filled.  Current Freshman football coach Collin Clayburn will move into an assistant varsity position. Middle School football coach Nic Myers will move into an assistant freshman football position. New teacher Carlos Polamo  will be an assistant Middle School football coach.  Unzicker says there are still several Varsity assistant positions to be filled  and the respective Head Coaches are working to fill those spots.

The meeting also included discussion regarding curriculum. Dr. Unzicker says staff members are looking at the Math and Reading programs and plan a total review which will be presented to the Board, with recommendations,  by January.   The Annual Safety review was positive with only a few minor points to be addressed with some sidewalks and entry ways.

Alliance High School Graduation will be Sunday May 17, 2 pm, at Bulldog Stadium.
