The 2015 Dawes County 4-H Communications Contest is next Monday, April 6, at 6:00 in the Chadron High School Auditorium, but all entries in the Public Service Announcement (PSA) category are due today.
The speech contest deadline was a week ago.
Extension Assistant for 4-H Terri Lemmon says the Communications Contest is open to any youth who was between the ages of 5 to 18 before January 1 and is properly enrolled in the Dawes County 4-H Program.
In the Contest, the young competitors write a speech or create a PSA that incorporates the topic of 4-H, then deliver it to an audience.
Lemmon says it helps them gain skills and experience in communicating about current issues to real audiences while learning how to organize, prepare, and present a speech as well as developing self-confidence and other life skills.
