The Alliance police department is investigating the weekend death of a man who apparently died as the result of an accident.

A news release says the body of 20-year old Levi Ehrmantraut was found pinned under a running car about 10:30 Sunday morning.

The initial report was of a man passed out or sleeping in a vehicle near the intersection of Alliance Street and Homestead Ave in the Homestead Addition east of Alliance.

When officers arrived, though, they discovered Ehrmantraut underneath the vehicle.

Members of the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department responded and lifted the vehicle to extricate the body. Acting Box Bute County Coroner and Deputy Sheriff James Collins then pronounced Ehrmantraut dead at the scene.

Interim County Attorney Joe Stecher has ordered an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing, but the media release says the death appears to be the result of an accident.
