Newly-elected Chadron City Councilman Miles Bannan says city residents sent a clear message yesterday in two ways that they want a progressive community…by passing a half-cent tax to fund an indoor pool proposal and by electing the 3 candidates who campaigned together as Team Chadron.

Bannan and John Coates entered the as write-in candidates, but finished 2nd and 3rd in the 7-man for the 3 council seats behind the third member of Team Chadron, Mark Werner. Bannan freely admits that having one write-in candidate win, much less 2, is unusual.

Bannan, manager of the Best Western motel, says the plan to convert the city’s outdoor pool into an indoor recreation center is priority-1 for Team Chadron.
