Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman confirms the body of an area man in his early twenties was found at the Scotts Bluff National Monument early Sunday afternoon…apparently the victim of a fall on the Summit Trail.
Sheriff Overman says authoriteis have a tentative identification of the victim, but that the name won’t be made public until after an autopsy is planned for Monday morning at Regional West Medical Center.
Overman says his deputies were called to the area by Monument staff and Gering police after the body was found on a downslope off the main trail…east of the walking tunnel on the main trail.
He also says a very cursory examination of the body indicated injuries consistent with a fall.
