DRIVER IN DEADLY GOLF CART CRASH WON’T BE CHARGED

police-lights-red1DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) — No charges will be filed against a Deadwood man in a golf cart crash that killed his wife.

Authorities say 54-year-old Monica Beer died Saturday when the golf cart she was riding in plunged off a 7 1/2-foot-high retaining wall and rolled on top of her and her husband, Greg Vecchi. Vecchi was driving.

Beer died at the scene in the couple’s backyard. Vecchi was treated at a hospital for serious injuries and later released.

The Rapid City Journal reports Vecchi told police that the golf cart’s accelerator got stuck. Tests showed he had no alcohol in his system.
