IN THE NEWS: CALIFORNIA TEEN DIES TRYING TO RECOVER STOLEN iPHONE

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Recently, Rubi Rubio got a new iPhone 5S as a gift from her mom — a present for getting good grades during her sophomore year of high school. But now the teenage girl is dead — killed after a man stole her phone and she made a desperate attempt to get it back. Last week the 15-year-old was walking her younger sister home from school when a man asked her for the time. When Rubio took out her phone to check, the man grabbed the phone — and jumped into a vehicle. Rubio chased the car and jumped on the car’s trunk. The driver swerved the car until she fell off — and the teen struck her head on the street. The phone has been recovered by neighbors — and is being used by police in the investigation.

IN THE NEWS: VA. TEEN FIGHTING EFFORTS TO PROVE SEXTING CASE

McLEAN, Va. (AP) — A defense lawyer for a teenage boy in Virginia charged in a sexting case is calling it “crazy” and “outrageous.” Prosecutors in Prince William County have gone to court to get a judge to have photos of the boy taken in a sexually aroused state to try to prove the sexting case against him. Prosecutors say they need to compare the teen’s erect penis to photos he’s accused of sending to his 15-year-old girlfriend at the time. The boy is charged with possessing and manufacturing child pornography. The porn in question are the images of himself he’s accused of creating. The teen’s lawyers have gone to court to fight the warrant seeking the images. And in case you’re wondering, prosecutors plan to inject the teen with a chemical that would cause an erection, if they get court permission to do so.
