Scottsbluff County authorities say a pickup stolen Monday apparently by the suspect in the robbery of a Melbeta convenience store was recovered yesterday in Bridgeport but that the man…35-year old Travis Don Leier of Rapid City remains at large.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Brown says the pickup was parked at a residence on the south edge of Bridgeport, with the resident saying he gave Leier a ride from there into a Bridgeport motel.

Morrill County Sheriff Milo Cardenas went to the motel Tuesday morning to search for Leier, but could not locate him….although personal property apparently belonging to Leier was found in one room.

Authorities believe Leier may still be in the Bridgeport area on foot and are warning residents to lock their vehicles and report anything suspicious.

Leier is described as a white, 6-3, 239 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark shorts.

He’s accused of both trying unsuccessfully to pry open the till at the Melbeta convenience store and trying to leave the store with a large amount of alcohol.
