Chadron State College music professor Dr James Margetts has been named the school’s interim dean of Liberal Arts and the Essential Studies Program, and will start his new duties next Monday. He succeeds Dr Joanna Forstrom, who stepped down after 2 years.
CSC Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr Charles Snare says Margetts will serve for the coming academic year, with a national search for a permanent successor will start this fall.
Margetts came to Chadron State a decade ago and served as chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department from 2006-09 and president of the Faculty Senate for the 2011-12 school year. He says excited about the new opportunity.
“I have tremendous respect and appreciation for this group of faculty and staff, and I really look forward to working with them, and for them, in this new role.”
Margetts earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University.
