The Chadron school district is changing hot lunch contractors this fall, choosing to go with Lunchtime Solutions.

Creative Dining Services, which also runs the meals at Chadron State State College, had held the contract since 2006 when it took over from Lunchtime Solutions.

School board president Sandy Roes says the decision to change was made not because the district was dissatisfied with Creative Dining in any way, but because Lunchtime Solutions had a better offer with a guarantee of at least $27,000 over expenses, even if it had to put up money itself.

Roes says the board also like the company’s pledge to keep the current hot lunch program staff, meal options intended to get more students to buy lunch at school, and a commitment to use local vendors…such as farmer’s markets…whenever possible for food and supplies.
