PROUD BROTHERS “PROUD” OF THEIR NEW NOVEL

It is normal for brothers of any age to have disagreements.

What isn’t typical, though, is brothers who write a novel together and that’s exactly what Lincoln and Ethan Proud, both of Pinedale, Wyoming, did.

“We had our share of arguments and fights as brothers always do, but when it came to our writing we always found a middle ground,” says Lincoln…the older at age 24.

That middle ground led to an unlikely by-product, “Rebellion,” a medieval fantasy novel the brothers wrote together. The novel will be available to the public on May 27 through www.tatepublishing.com.

“We began writing it when I was in seventh grade, but never really tried to finish an entire book. We wrote and re-wrote a lot,” says Ethan, who is 20.

The medieval fantasy story is a product of many drafts attempted over the years. The 388 page”Rebellion” takes place in the mythical country of Durthia and tells the tale of a rebellion led by Duke Jergle of the south against a corrupt king.

Literature isn’t the only thing that runs in the Proud family; so does competing in track and field at Chadron State College. Lincoln, who graduated from Chadron State in 2013 with a sports and recreation degree, owns the school record in the 400 hurdles while Ethan, a sophomore, is a sprinter on the current CSC team.

They’re actually second-generation Eagles. Their mother, Jenifer Durbin Proud, still owns the school’s 55-meter and 100-meter sprint records while their father, Larry, was also a successful track athlete for the Eagles.

Whether on the track or on a blank white page, the Proud brothers are always striving to leave their mark.  Even now, as their first published book is set to hit the shelves, the brothers are tinkering away at a sequel.

“Whether or not this one succeeds, we plan on continuing to write the sequel, says Ethan. “Hopefully, ‘Rebellion’ is well-received.”
