City of Alliance Activity Report — Friday, April 11
— Did you know that you can dispose of your unwanted furniture and appliances at the City of Alliance Landfill for a nominal fee? Disposal of furniture is charged at the minimum charge of $7.60. Appliances with no Freon may be taken to the landfill for $10.00 and appliances with Freon for $25.00. A complete listing of disposal fees may be found on the city’s website at cityofalliance.net. The landfill is open for your convenience Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
— Choice Gas Election will be conducted today through Thursday, April 24. We would like to encourage you to call the available suppliers during the election period to be advised of the daily gas rates to ensure a selection that is right for you. Please call 762-5075 for your local ACE provider rates.
— The Alliance City Council will be conducting a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Education Meeting Room located at 1604 Sweetwater Avenue. Complete agendas and minutes may be viewed on the City’s website.
— The Community Development Department would like to encourage residents to call Digger’s Hotline at 1-800-331-5666 prior to planting trees or beginning any type of building projects this spring to avoid damaging any underground lines. Residents should also contact the Community Development Department at 762-5400 to obtain the proper building permits before beginning construction.
— The Ladies Golf Association will be conducting their spring meeting on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Sky View Golf Course. Anyone interested in attending the meeting is welcome.
— Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher. For a complete position profile, please access the City of Alliance website.
— Attention parents! Children can still be registered for Red Cross swimming lessons Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. The cost is $30 per child. A registration form is available on the City of Alliance website. Please bring the completed form and the fee of $30.00 at the time of registration.
— For the next several evenings, uniformed officers with the Alliance Police Department will be attempting to discourage turkey vultures from roosting on and causing damage to the 12th and Toluca Avenue water tower by firing blank shotgun shells at the birds as they attempt to land.
— The Alliance Public Library would like to invite you to participate in the Read around the Posies Silent Auction sponsored by the Alliance Public Library Board! If you are interested in decorating and planting a pot, please contact the library at 762-1387. You may pick a pot of your choice or stop by the library to pick one up. The flower pots must be taken to the library no later than May 3 will be displayed in the front lobby of the library from Monday, May 5 through Saturday, May 10 at noon.
