KAB RECEIVES $32,749 GRANT

Keep Alliance Beautiful is the recipient of a $32,749 grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for Recycling Education and Center Support projects.

Alliance is one of 132 projects receiving $21,750,000 in grant awards.

Keep Alliance Beautiful is requesting that partial funding be used to retain personnel at the recycling center and for educational personnel for three years to help promote recycling in Alliance and Box Butte County. The recycling center was opened three years ago through a grant from the NET, and the Alliance City Council instituted 50 cents of a 1% landfill fee increase in 2011 for recycling expenses. In 2013, Box Butte County chose to finance KAB with payments of $600 every three months for services, which includes recycling.

The recycling center, located in the alley north of Western Heritage Credit Union, is a 1,350 square-foot building.

KAB expects recycling to continue to grow.
