METRO STATE TURNS BACK CSC

CHADRON – Alysa Heath and Lauren Quijano each had 10 kills to help lift No. 23-ranked Metro State to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Saturday evening at Armstrong Gymnasium.

The match was the season finale for both teams.

Chadron State ends its season with a 5-24 record, including a 2-17 mark in the conference, while Metro State advances to the RMAC playoffs with a record of 18-9 overall and 13-6 in the RMAC.

The Roadrunners controlled things early and often Saturday by hitting .235 as a team. They also played solid defensively, limiting the Eagles to a team hitting percentage of .080.

Mallory Irvine, who had a match-high five blocks, and Jessica Jester each led the Eagles with eight kills apiece and Mollie Jones chipped in seven more.

Both Justine Ackie, who had a team-high 16 set assists, and libero Kristina Harter finished with 14 digs.
