Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested former Box Butte General Hospital Chief Operating and Chief Information Officer James Parks on seven charges of Possession of Child Pornography.
The 65-year old Parks, who left the hospital earlier this year, was taken into custody without incident at his residence Tuesday on 7 counts of felony Possession of Child Pornography.
State Patrol spokesman Deb Collins says Parks’ arrest followed a four-month investigation triggered by a report from BBGH CEO Dan Griess about questionable file names found in Parks’ work computer.
According to the arrest affidavit, Parks told investigators he’d gone to the website in question to upload pictures from a car show … mostly of cars, but some with “clothed children” as well.
The investigators said the shots of “clothed children” had been taken by Parks at a car show and were of underage girls with a focus on their breasts, buttocks and genital areas.
Authorities then obtained a search warrant for an email account of Parks where they found conversations between Parks and another man of sexual nature about young girls as well as evidence that the two men had exchanged videos and photos that depicted children sexually.
Parks has been released from jail after posting a $3,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Box Butte Count Court on Thursday, October 10 at 1:30 pm.
Parks left his position and employment at BBGH earlier this year without public explanation.
