LINCOLN – District 43 State Senator Al Davis is encouraging people in northwest Nebraska to report recent winter storm livestock losses.

Photos and precise written records of the number of head lost and amounts of record feed used should be compiled.

Documentation should include third-party verification of the loss. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture can provide more details about this requirement. Senator Davis said, “Assembled information can be sent directly to the Nebraska Cattlemen or to my legislative office, and my staff will forward it to the Nebraska Cattlemen.”

“Once we get past the current government shutdown, there may be some disaster assistance available. However, folks need to put the information together now, because it could be several days before a solution is found to the shutdown,” Senator Davis added.
