Wyoming authorities says a man with residences in both Nebraska and Wyoming was killed Monday night around 9:30 in a rollover accident on Highway 20 about 8 miles from the Nebraska-Wyoming border.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt Steve Townsend says 31-year old Jay Ebbert, who lived in both Lusk and Crawford, was westbound in a pickup when he drifted off the right side of the road for an unknown reason.
Ebbert brought the pickup back onto the pavement but over-corrected, sending across the highway and off the left side. Sgt Townsend says he again over-corrected to the right, causing the vehicle to go into a broadside slide, then roll several times.
Ebbert was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. Sgt Townsend says he died at the scene from his injuries.
Funeral services for Ebbert will be Monday at 10:00 AM in the Crawford Community Building with Pastor George Kilmer officiating. Memorials have been established for the Lusk and Crawford Volunteer Fire Departments. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron.
