A group of talented ladies at Immanuel Lutheran Church have generously made and donated layettes for the newborn babies and their mothers at Chadron Community Hospital & Health Services.  Rose Fryda, Nurse Manager was happy to accept the donation June 27th for the hospital.  The layettes were made by Junice Dagen, Stephanie Cogdill, Karen Claussen-Smith and Pastor Ann Sundberg.

The idea started when a former member of the church, Carol Emmett began making the layettes in hopes of giving them to Lutheran World Relief or local mothers and babies.  When she passed away with the project incomplete her son brought them to the church. Junice Dagen, chair of the churches Social Ministry Committee had the vision to see the project to fruition.  Church members purchased hats, booties, socks, burp clothes and other items to be wrapped in the sewn blankets created by Carol to create these adorable little bundles.  Attached to the bundle reads a card, “Given in the name of Jesus who loves little children, by Immanuel Lutheran Church”.  Junice, Karen and Stephanie put the kits together.

Pastor Ann Sundberg, “Every child should know that they are loved.  These layette kits are a way to make God’s love tangible for the families of newborn babies in our community.”

Chadron Community Hospital & Health Services is grateful for the donation and look forward to bringing the bundle of goodies to the new moms and babies.
