The Union Pacific Railroad’s legendary steam locomotive #844…leaves today from Cheyenne for Omaha…where it will be on display along with one of the largest diesel locomotives ever built during the College World Series, which begins later this week.

#844 will spend tonight in North Platte, Tuesday night in Council Bluffs, Ia, and Friday in Omaha. It will be on public display noon-to-7 pm from Friday through next Tuesday at the Union Pacific Home Plate…across the street from TD Ameritrade Park…home of the CWS.

A Global Positioning Satellite transmitter has been installed with #844 and integrated with a map on UP’s Web site at www.up.com.

Enter “Steam” in the search box on the homepage for a shortcut to the map which, with varying degrees of detail, will be updated every 5 minutes to show the train’s location on the trip to Omaha.
