Frank Thompson of Alliance broke all 25 of his targets in the last round of the USA Shooting Spring Selection Match, moving up one spot to finish 3rd and secure a spot on the U-S team for the 2013 World Championships. Thompson had a perfect final round last year to secure his spot on the U-S Olympic team.
Winning the Spring Selection Match…held over the weekend at Ft Benning, Ga…was another Olympian, Georgia native Vincent Hancock. Hancock posted a perfect score for the entire competition…connecting on 250 straight targets for the first time.
He did miss 2 targets during the Men’s Open Final, but still took a 7-point win over junior shooter T-J Bayer of College Station, Tx. Hancock says he didn’t have the same intensity that he did before getting the 250.
Bayer edged Thompson by 4 targets in the Selection Match to grab the #2 spot on the team for the championships.
All open finalists will be granted World Cup selection to the final two International Sport Shooting Federation stops before the World Championships.
Hancock, Bayer, and Thompson earned a trip to Granada, Spain, while the next 3 finishers will represent Team USA in Cyprus.
Hancock, Bayer, and Thompson will represent Team USA at the World Clay Target Championships, coming up September 14-25 in Lima, Peru.
