COPS ON HAND FOR WHITECLAY BEER DELIVERIES

Whiteclay-1The Nebraska State Patrol and the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office were both on hand in Whiteclay Monday for the first beer deliveries there since anti-alcohol activists vandalized a truck Friday and threatened its driver.

Dan Brehmer is a co-owner of Stateline Liquor in Whiteclay and was glad to have the officers monitoring the situation.
“They (the protesters) did $1,400 damage Friday to the truck and then they broke 8 cases of beer. That wouldn’t be happening anywhere else, I don’t think.

Sheridan County Attorney Dennis King has said criminal charges will be pursued for the Friday incident, which saw two tires on the truck slashed, several containers of beer smashed, and the driver threatened…allegedly at knifepoint.

Authorities in Nebraska and on the adjacent Pine Ridge Reservation are working to identify those involved.  Brehmer says he could identify a couple of them, but that he didn’t know others…with some of them from out of the area.

“One of the Deep Green Resistance guys was bustin’ beer and pullin’ it off the truck. They’re doing criminal activity and they’re supposed to be a peace group.”

Authorities say they plan to continue to have a presence in Whiteclay during beer deliveries for the foreseeable future.
