A 13-year old Lincoln girl has died from injuries suffered Saturday afternoon in an ATV accident and caused when her hair got caught in its engine.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says doctors determined Sat that night that Emma Kringle was brain dead, with the family putting her on life support so her organs could be harvested. That process was completed Monday morning and the family had her disconnected from the equipment.
Sheriff Wagner says Kringle was driving the 3-wheeled ATV along with with a 9-year old cousin on another ATV at their grandparents home near Branched Oak Lake northwest of Lincoln when the accident occurred. Both girls were wearing helmets.
Sheriff Wagner also says the ATV was home-made, built by Kringle’s uncle and used by various family members for about 20 years.
