
Ten members of the Chadron State College indoor track team have received Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic honors, led by men’s First Team selections Kelly Troester and Kyle McCarthy.
For All-Academic recognition, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better and have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution.
Troester, a senior from Marsland, Neb., has a 3.98 GPA in rangeland management and was the RMAC Indoor Track Summit Award winner for having the highest GPA at the conference meet. McCarthy, a sophomore from Aurora, Neb., has a 3.8 GPA in business and is also a member of the football team.
Five Eagles received second-team honors…two men and 3 women. Both men are from Jamaica: graduate student Lanar Newman, who has a 3.50 GPA in business, and junior Alex Graham, who carries a 3.55…also in business.
Two of the three CSC women on the second-team are juniors from Nebraska majoring in family and consumer science…Cyndi Thomas of Omaha, with a 3.94, and Liz Ellicott from Harrison, who has perfect 4.00 GPA. The third is senior Kaelie Jelden of Eaton, Colo, who has a 3.88 GPA in education.
The 11 honorable mention selections for Chadron State include 8 men and 3 women. Two of the women are local products…Alyssa Norton of Rushville and Jayme Nunes of Alliance. The third is Meagan Nahrwold of Byers, Colo.
The men’s list features three Nebraskans…Alex Johnson of Kearney, Sean Munger of Imperial, and Brandon Segelke of Sidney…Jamaicans Dean Francis and Paul McGowan…Coloradoans Mathew Mathiason of Pierce and Cody Roberts of Trinchera…and Jacob Brunette of Pinedale, Wyo.
Adams State’s Kristen McGlynn-Arendt is the Women’s All-Academic Indoor Track Athlete of the Year with the men’s award going to Russell Drummond of Colorado School of Mines.
