Scottsbluff police have identified the man killed in a car-pedestrian accident Wednesday night as 38 year old James Maurice Feather of Scottsbluff. Authorities spent most of Thursday asking the public for helping identifying Feather.

Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner says several people saw Feather fall in front of an oncoming care while crossing Avenue I just north of its intersection with West Overland.

He was pinned under the vehicle and emergency responders had to work to free him, but he died at the scene. An autopsy was conducted Thursday to help determine if some medical condition might have contributed to the accident and whether drugs or alcohol were factors.

The name of the driver, described as a Scotts Bluff County woman, has not been released and both Warner and police have emphasized she was not at fault in the accident.
