It will be a busy day this Saturday for Box Butte General Hospital during the 28th annual Box Butte County Health Fair at Alliance High School. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm.
Most of the departments will be located in the Performing Arts Center Commons Area, unless otherwise noted.
Since the mission of BBGH is to lead and innovate in healthcare delivery and community wellness, the countywide health fair provides a perfect vehicle for the hospital to meet that undertaking.
The following is a list of departments and what they will be offering:
1. Box Butte Health Foundation – Representing the Foundation and promoting a happy, healthy childhood by distributing jump ropes.
2. Diabetes Education – Pre-Diabetes Risk Tests, talk about program offerings and prevention classes.
3. GNMSS – Trauma Surgery (Dr. Paul Willette) Information on the following: Thyroid and Breast surgeries / Endoscopy – EGD/Colonoscopy / Laparoscopy – Gallbladder, Diagnostic, Hernia Repair, Nissen, Appy / GI Lab – SmartPill, Motility, pH/Impedance, RFA, BRAVO.
4. GNMSS Family Medicine – Meet new providers: Dr. Terri Bowland, Dr. Victor Fattig, and PA Kathy Barth will be attending to greet the community (from 9-noon).
5. Laboratory – Coronary Risk Profiles – Library area. $10 a person. Results will be mailed.
6. Blood Drive Cancelled due to threat of snow
7. Pharmacy – The Pharmacy department will be providing assistance for people who seek more information about their prescriptions, including drug interaction and side effects. Please bring a list of medications and we will be happy to speak with you about your prescriptions.
8. Operating Room Nursing – How much time it takes for each patient to have surgery from the beginning to the end. They will also have information on the functional pain scale.
9. Rehab & Wellness – Balance assessment with BioDex Balance System, Body fat analysis with Tanita scale, Brain Injury Support Group will be available, ran by Martha Douglas SLP. Occupational therapists will be available to schedule an ergonomic car fit.

– The Alliance Masons will offering free child identification profiles from 9 am to 2 pm in the choir room. Fingerprints, webcam interview, photograph, and toothprint of the child will be given to parents or guardian.
