CSC SB HOSTS UNK FOR WED DH

CSC SB hitter        The Chadron State College softball team hosts traditional rival Nebraska-Kearney in a non-conference double-header Wednesday.  First pitch in the opener will be at noon, and we’ll have all the play-by-play action here at Panhandlepost.com.

The Eagles are 6-7 after winning 4 of their last 5 games, but coach Rob Stack plans to give rest several starters against the Lopers,  3-7 this season, to give his young backups some badly needed experience.

“You never know when you will need someone to help out,” says Stack. “We’ve already had a lot of players seeing action, but I want some of those who haven’t played quite as much to have a chance to play in these games so they’ll be better prepared when we need them.”

The Eagles will play this weekend at Black Hills State in Spearfish in a “pod arrangement” with Western New Mexico that will have each team play the other two twice.

The games were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, but a forecast for wintery weather on Sunday hass moved them up to Friday and Saturday.

Black Hills State athletic director Jhett Alberts says the new schedule has Chadron State playing Western New Mexico at 11 a.m. Friday, following by Black Hills State and Western New Mexico at 1 p.m. and Black Hills State and Chadron at 3.

The schedule will be the same on Saturday except the first game between Chadron and Western New Mexico will begin at 10 o’clock.
