Woman accused of hitting police officer with car

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — An Omaha woman has been accused of driving drunk and hitting an Omaha police officer on a downtown sidewalk.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Breanna Mickles is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash. She was ordered held Wednesday on $25,000 bail.

Police say she was driving near 13th and Cass streets around 8:30 p.m. Monday when she jumped a curb and hit bicycle Officer Romina Perez. Police say Mickles then fled the scene; other officers stopped her near TD Ameritrade Park.

Officers say Mickles’ blood alcohol content tested at nearly .25 percent — more than four times the legal limit to drive. Police also found her unrestrained 6-month-old son in the car’s back seat.

Perez was treated for knee and back pain.
