GUNNISON, Colo.—Junior point guard Joseph Charles scored 24 points and had five rebounds, seven assists and four steals while leading Western State to an 81-66 victory in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Friday night.
The Mountaineers shot 58 percent (30-52) from the field while breaking a seven-game losing streak. Center Charles Joseph added 14 points and another guard, Terrance Boyd, scored 13.
Although the Eagles sank eight of 20 3-point shots, they made only 35.7 percent (20-56) of their total shots from the field.
Junior swingman Zac Bargen continued to lead the Eagles. He scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to share game-high honors. Kendrick Holliman added 12 points for CSC.
Western State, which led 42-37 at halftime and maintained the lead the rest of the way, is now 8-12 for the season and 7-9 in the conference. The Eagles are 2-18 and 2-14.
