ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Chadron State wrestling team jumped out to a quick 15-3 last night at Adams State in Alamosa, Colo, but the Grizzlies took the final 6 matches and cruised to a 31-15 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory during their dual Friday night in Alamosa, Colo.
The Eagles fall to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference while Adams State, which has defeated Chadron State in 11 consecutive duals, improves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
Adams State’s Jarrod Purvis, the No. 8 ranked wrestler at 174 pounds, got the dual started off right for the Grizzlies by earning a 6-3 decision over Devan Fors, but the responded with three straight victories.
Jordan Debus pinned Mark Mabry at 184, Chris Leak followed with a forfeit at 197 and Mike Hill gutted out a 4-2 decision in overtime over Taylor Stam at heavyweight to put Chadron State up 15-3.
Things quickly went downhill after that as Adams State scored bonus points in 5 of the final 6 matches with 2 pins, 2 major decisions, and a technical fall.
Chadron State will be back out on the road for their next action as they wrestle at Dickinson State on Wednesday.
