CHADRON – Eight Metro State women’s basketball players scored at least six points and the Roadrunners sank eight 3-pointers en route to their 76-40 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Friday at Armstrong Gymnasium.

Metro, now 13-6 overall and 11-3 in the conference, plays tonight (Saturday) at Black Hills State while the Eagles (3-15, 3-11 RMAC) host Regis University at 6 p.m.

Chadron State never led and tied the game just once at 2-2. Metro State didn’t have any big scoring runs, but just kept pushing the margin until it was 36-20 at the half. It was more of the same after intermission, when the Eagles shot just 29% and went scoreless for the final 4:47 when they had 5 turnovers and 2 missed shots.

Three-pointers and rebounds made much of the difference.  Metro State outscored CSC 24-3 from long range, making 8-16 to the Eagles’ 1-7, and outrebounded them by 11…including a 13-5 edge in offensive boards. They also had the edge in free throws, making 10-15 while the Eagles were 7-7.

The Roadrunners were led by the hot shooting of point guard Cassie Lambrecht, who scored 16 points on 6-11 from the field, including 4 from beyond the arc. She also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists with no turnovers.  Center Amy Nelson sank 6 of 7 field goals en route to 13 points, and Kristen Valencia chipped in with 6 points and a game high 10 rebounds,

Chadron State was led by Kattie Ranta who finished with 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting to go along with 4 rebounds, while Sadie Waugh had 7 points and 4 rebounds.
